1. Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin' Stevens
The bells at the beginning are perfect to bop along to and it's such a catchy and festive song.
2. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl
I'll be honest, I didn't understand this song at all. When I first heard it, the beginning sounded like some drunk people at karaoke. But the song grows on you a lot. I'm not sure if this song is popular in the States, but here in England it's on the radio non-stop. And I absolutely love it now!
3. Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town - Mariah Carey
Such a beautiful rendition of this Christmas classic. Personally I think Mariah Carey is the Queen of Christmas music.
4. Christmas - Michael Bublé
And I now declare Michael Bublé the king of Christmas music. His whole Christmas album is just sheer genius but this one's a particular favourite of mine.
5. Last Christmas - Wham!
It's a bit weird how this one's a Christmas song - it doesn't exactly have the happiest or most festive of messages, but nonetheless it's still so, so catchy. I guess maybe it also teaches you to "give your heart" to "someone special (special)". See what I did there? And it just reminds me of when I was a child and every single radio station played this. I'm still so happy that radio stations still do.
6. Sleigh Ride - Ronettes
Again, a perfect song for head bopping. And every time I hear this, I think of being inside next to the fire sipping hot chocolate and watching the snow. And the "ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ding-dong-ding" part is so fun to sing. (Although it now looks slightly dodgy written down.)
7. Let It Snow - Dean Martin
I don't doubt that your grandparents probably played this to you at some point. It's very old-school (does anybody still use that word?) but I think this will always be a Christmas classic. I always picture myself holding hand with someone while ice-skating just like in those rom-coms. Ahh, love at Christmas is a magical thing.
8. Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
One of the most perfect Christmas songs I've ever heard. It literally reminds me of decorating Christmas trees in warm fluffy jumpers. And does anyone remember the scene from Home Alone where Kevin McCalister dances to this?
9. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
I can completely relate to this song. I've said this so many times, but Christmas is so beautiful and magical and everyone is always in such good spirits. People are so much happier at Christmas. So yes, I do wish it could be Christmas everyday.
10. Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helms
I think at some point when you first learn an instrument, you're going to try and play this. I know the original is by Bobby Helms, but the Muppets doing it is my absolute favourite. I mean, who doesn't love The Muppets? Also a great Christmas movie for you guys to check out.
11. White Christmas - Bing Crosby
I love Christmas, but white Christmases are my favourite in particular. All the snow on the trees and lights, it's so beautiful. Sure, it's annoying when you have to scrape the snow off the windshield of your car, but isn't it worth it to see the white blanket?
12. Baby, It's Cold Outside - Margaret Whiting & Johnny Mercer
I'm not quite sure if they're the original singers, but this is beautifully sung anyway. Also how cute are the lyrics? The glee version is also spectacular so I recommend checking that out too.
13. Chestnuts Roasting On an Open Fire - Nat King Cole
I always picture myself in front of a fire with this. All the lights turned off and the only lights are coming from the ones on the tree and the fire. And I'll probably have some ridiculously tacky and cute Christmas Jumper.
I also really, really like the Ariana Grande and Liz Gillies version.
14. It's the Most Wonderful Time of The Year - Andy Williams
Picture yourself walking around through the snow and you stop by a Christmas tree and you catch sight of your reflection in one of the baubles. Flushed Cheeks and bright eyes and smiles all around. This is the song I see myself doing this to. Why do I have such weird scenarios when I hear Christmas music? Thus being said, the song is pretty darn catchy.
15. All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
Ah, the Queen of Christmas music returns to finish off the list. I literally jump up and down like a three year old when the into bells kick in. And c'mon, you can't have Christmas without this song.
Obviously there are tons and tons of Christmas songs that I can't put in here because it would be too long. But hopefully the selection I have compiled here today will get you more into the festive spirit! Check out more Christmas songs on YouTube that will get you entertained for hours and hours.
